Prorogation

The Governor General prorogued the Second Session of the 40th Parliament on Wednesday, December 30, 2009.

Prorogation is the ending of a parliamentary session. For further information, please consult the Prorogation of Parliament section of the Compendium of House of Commons Procedure.

The Speech from the Throne, which will open the Third Session of the 40th Parliament, is scheduled to be read on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
