Financial Statements of the House of Commons
Through a competitive process, the House of Commons hires an independent accounting firm to conduct an annual audit of its Financial Statements. The Financial Statements include:
- Statement of Financial Position as at March 31;
- Statement of Operations and Net Financial Position;
- Statement of Change in Net Debt;
- Statement of Cash Flow; and
- Notes to the Financial Statements.
Current Financial Statements:
The audit of the 2011–2012 Financial Statements resulted in an unqualified audit opinion.
This is the optimal situation as it indicates that the auditor is satisfied that the Financial Statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position, results of operations, and cash flows of the House of Commons.
