East Block Guided Tour

Visitors in the Rotunda

Between July and September, visit the East Block, the nerve centre of Canada’s government for the country’s first hundred years! It was intended to house the political executive and provided offices for some key historical figures.

In the 1980s, three rooms were restored to resemble their 1872 form and function, giving visitors the opportunity to view a glimpse of the past.

  • Office of the Governor General
  • Office of Sir John A. Macdonald
  • The Privy Council Chamber
