Biography

Norman Doyle is a former Canadian businessman and politician in Newfoundland and Labrador.

After careers in broadcasting, business and construction, Mr. Doyle entered into a twenty-six year career in both provincial and federal politics.

Mr. Doyle was elected to the House of Assembly in Newfoundland and Labrador from 1979 to 1993 and served as a Cabinet Minister in several portfolios.

Mr. Doyle entered federal politics in 1997 as the Member of Parliament for St. John’s East. During his twelve years in federal politics, Mr. Doyle served as the Progressive Conservative party whip, Progressive Conservative national caucus chair and national caucus chair for the Conservative Party of Canada. He was also chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration from 2006 until leaving federal politics in 2008.

Mr. Doyle completed his high school education in his home town of Avondale, Conception Bay and then went on to attend broadcasting school in Toronto.

Mr. Doyle resides in St. John's, Newfoundland. He is married to Isabelle (nee Hannifan). They have two sons, Deon and Randy.
