Paper Towel Composting Program has been expanded to all public washrooms on Parliament Hill!

In January 2002, a pilot project for the recycling of paper towels was undertaken in the washrooms of the East Block and the Wellington Building. Due to its success, the Paper Towel Composting Program has now been expanded to include public washrooms on Parliament Hill, including the following buildings:

  • Centre Block
  • Confederation Building
  • East Block
  • Justice Building
  • Victoria Building
  • West Block

What should you do?

When disposing of your paper towels, put them in the designated container in the washroom.

Paper Towels Only

Please do not contaminate paper towel containers by disposing of materials other than paper towels. Put other materials in the waste bin. Waste Only

What happens to the paper towels?

They will be transported to a landfill site where they will be composted and spread over the landfill to decrease wind erosion and enrich the soil.
