As indicated in the Memorandum of Understanding for the new environmental partnership, the parties (such as the Senate, the House of Commons and the Library of Parliament & Public Works & Government Services Canada – Parliamentary Precinct Branch) will keep current internal committees and working groups and the terms of references of these committees in order to manage their environmental risks and programs effectively within their institutions.

The Steering Committee is composed of one representative from each institution who answers to the Leader of each institution for the Environmental Program at the Parliamentary Precinct.
