The Standing Committee on National Defence met in a televised session at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Chris Alexander, James Bezan, Tarik Brahmi, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Matthew Kellway, Hon. John McKay, Christine Moore, Rick Norlock, Ted Opitz and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Gerry Byrne for Hon. John McKay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Gouvernment of the Republic of Lithuania: Rasa Jukneviciene, Minister, Ministry of National Defence; Ernestas Gaigalas, Aide-de-Camp to the Minister, Ministry of National Defence; Vaidotas Urbelis, Policy Director, Ministry of National Defence. Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania: Her Excellency Ginte Bernadeta Damusis, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithunia to Canada; Antanas Jurgaitis, Defence Attaché. Conference of Defence Associations Institute: David Perry, Defence Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of NATO's strategic concept and Canada's role in international defence cooperation.
 

Rasa Jukneviciene made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

David Perry made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
