The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Gordon Brown, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Matthew Dubé, Parm Gill, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore and Rathika Sitsabaiesan.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Aubin for Rathika Sitsabaiesan, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet for Pierre Nantel, Blake Richards for Terence Young and Justin Trudeau for Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: City of Ottawa: Hon. Jim Watson, Mayor; Rainer Bloess, Councillor; Katherine Hobbs, Councillor. Canadian Tourism Commission: Michele McKenzie, President and Chief Executive Officer. John Fisher Memorial Museum: Judith Baxter, Volunteer Director. New Brunswick Museum: Jane Fullerton, Chief Executive Officer. Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec: Pierre Wilson, Director-Curator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.
 

Jim Watson and Michele McKenzie made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Judith Baxter, Jane Fullerton and Pierre Wilson made statements and answered questions.
