The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 1:04 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

The delegates made statements and answered questions.

Irwin Cotler moved, — That the motions adopted by the Subcommittee on December 8, 2011, the first regarding the brutal and inhuman treatment of the civil population of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (“DPRK” or “North Korea”), and the second concerning the fate of Ms. Shin and her two daughters in North Korea, be presented to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, recommending that it report these matters to the House and request a comprehensive Government response thereto pursuant to Standing Order 109.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 6; NAYS: 0.

At 2:08 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
