The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Leon Benoit, France Bonsant, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Ed Holder for Mike Allen and Francis Valeriote for Hon. Navdeep Bains.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: M.K. Jaccard and Associates Inc.: Christopher Bataille, Director; Robert Joshi, Consultant. As individuals: Atif Kubursi, Professor, Economics, McMaster University; Martin Lee-Gosselin, Professor, Université Laval and Imperial College London.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on the contribution of integrated approaches for providing energy services in Canadian communities.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:48 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 12, 2009 concerning updates on jobs losses or job gains in the following sectors: mining, forestry and energy, the Committee request the necessary documents from Statistics Canada and that the first report be provided to the Committee, through the Clerk, as soon as possible, and that the subsequent reports follow on June 1, August 1, October 1 and December 1, 2009.

 

At 5:13 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
