The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 2:36 p.m. this day, in the Wellington B Room, Victoria Inn Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: André Arthur, Paule Brunelle, Colin Carrie, Hon. Dan McTeague, James Rajotte, Hon. Raymond Simard, Bruce Stanton, Dave Van Kesteren and Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Eleanor Fast, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: The Boeing Company: William Geary, President, Boeing Canada Technology; Peter L. Hoffman, Director, Global R & D Strategy. Bristol Aerospace Limited: Don Boitson, Vice-President and General Manager. Composites Innovation Centre Manitoba Inc.: Sean McKay, Executive Director. National Research Council Canada: Ian C. Smith, Director General, Institute for Biodiagnostics; Roman Szumski, Vice-President, Life Sciences. Standard Aero: Kim Olson, Senior Vice-President, Technology and Engineering. TRLabs: Len Dacombe, Director, Manitoba Operations. Winnipeg Regional Health Authority: Harry Schulz, Chief Innovation Officer, Health Sciences Centre.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on February 7, 2008, the Committee resumed its study of Canadian Science and Technology.
 

Ian C. Smith, Len Dacombe, Harry Schulz and Roman Szumski made statements and answered questions.

 

At 3:46 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:54 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kim Olson, Peter L. Hoffman, Sean McKay and Don Boitson made statements and, with William Geary, answered questions.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
