An Act to amend the Criminal Code
(attempting to disarm a peace officer)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and
consent of the Senate and House of Commons
of Canada, enacts as follows:
|
|
|
|
1. The Criminal Code is amended by
adding the following after section 270:
|
|
| Disarming a
peace officer
|
270.1 Every one who
|
|
|
|
(a) disarms or attempts to disarm a peace
officer engaged in the execution of duty, or
|
|
|
|
(b) wilfully interferes with protective
equipment issued to a peace officer,
|
|
|
|
is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to
imprisonment for a term not exceeding five
years.

2. Paragraph 553(c) of the Act is
amended by adding the following after
subparagraph (vii):

(vii.1) section 270.1 (disarming a peace
officer).
