The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera
at 9:11 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Clifford
Lincoln, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Paul Bonwick,
Sarmite Bulte, R. John Efford, Liza Frulla, Christiane Gagnon, John Harvard,
Loyola Hearn, Betty Hinton, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Dennis Mills and Alex
Shepherd.
Acting Member present: Judy Wasylycia-Leis for Wendy Lill.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:
Sam Banks, Joseph Jackson, Terrence Thomas, research officers. Consultant: David
Black. Expert Advisors:
Marc Raboy and David Taras.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the
State of the Canadian Broadcasting System. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated November 7, 2002,
meeting No. 2).
The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.
It was
agreed, - that, in relation to its study on the state of the Canadian
Broadcasting System, the Committee retain the professional services of David
Black and Associates for the period of April 1st to June 20th
2003 at a per diem rate of $ 600.00 for a total amount not to exceed $27,000.00
(45 days), to assist in the preparation of the Committee’s report.
It was
agreed, - that the Committee adopt an operational Budget in the amount of
$119,465.00 for the period of April 1st to June 20th 2003
and that the Chair be authorized to present the said budget to the Liaison
Committee.
At 12:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
