The Standing Committee on Transport and Government Operations met at 10:31
a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Ovid Jackson,
presiding.

Elliott, Assistant Deputy Minister, Safety and Security Group; Derek Sweet,

The Order of Reference dated Tuesday, May 15, 2001, being now read as
follows:
ORDERED, -- That Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Motor Vehicle Transport Act,
1987 and to make consequential amendments to other Acts be now read a second
time and referred to the Standing Committee on Transport and Government
Operations.
William J. S. Elliott made a statement and with the other witnesses,
answered questions.
It was moved by Brent St. Denis: - "That the Clerk be authorized to
invite stakeholders to submit briefs on the subject of trucker’s hours of
service, and that the briefs be limited to no more than 20 pages, to be
translated upon receipt and distributed to the Committee members as of
September 2001."
And debate arose thereon. The question was put on the motion and it was, by
a show of hands, agreed to:

It was moved by Brent St. Denis: - "That on Tuesday June 5, the
Committee hear any remaining witnesses on, and proceed to the clause by clause
consideration of S-3 and, time permitting, consider the report related to the
Committee’s Air Day hearings."
And debate arose thereon. The question was put on the motion and it was, by
a show of hands, agreed to:

Bob Evans made a statement and answered questions.
David Bradley made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered
questions.
At 1:38 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
