Meeting No. 47

Monday, October 5, 1998

The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair and Vice-Chairs.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Rick Borotsik, Garry Breitkreuz, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, John Harvard, Howard Hilstrom, Jake Hoeppner and Joe McGuire.

Acting Members present: Claude Drouin for Denis Paradis, Susan Whelan for Paul Steckle, Pierre de Savoye for Hélène Alarie and Bernard Bigras for Odina Desrochers.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Researcher and Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(1), the clerk presided over the election of the Chair.

On motion of Denis Coderre, it was agreed, - That, John Harvard do take the Chair of this Committee as Chairman.

Accordingly, John Harvard was duly elected Chair of the Committee and took the Chair.

On motion of Garry Breitkreuz, it was agreed, - That, Howard Hilstrom be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

On motion of Susan Whelan, it was agreed, - That, Murray Calder be elected Vice-Chair of the Committee.

At 3:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
