The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-food met at 9:08 a.m., this day, in Room

269, West Block, Joe McGuire, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Paul Bonwick, Rick Borotsik, Murray Calder, Denis Coderre, Odina Desrochers, John Harvard, Jake E. Hoeppner, Larry McCormick, Joe McGuire, Dick Proctor and Rose-Marie Ur.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Economist and Frédéric Forge, Researcher.

Witnesses: From the Department of Agriculture Canada: Mike Gifford, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Market and Industry Services Branch; Ken Ash, Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis Directorate, Policy Branch and Richard Tudor-Price, Acting Director General, Industry Performance and Analysis Directorate, Policy Branch.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to study Reports by the Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food on Subsidies and Support in the U.S. Dairy Industry and U.S. Dairy Import Restrictions.

Mike Gifford and Ken Ash made opening statements and, with Richard Tudor-Price, answered questions.

At 10:57 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
