The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 9:07 o’clock a.m., this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Judi Longfield, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, David Price, George Proud, John Richardson and Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From Treasury Board Secretariat: Claude Caron, Acting Assistant Secretary, Government Operations Sector; and Lawrence R. Birch, Acting Director, Bureau of Real Property Management. From the Department of National Defence: Mike C. Nelson, CEO, Canadian Forces Housing Agency.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces – Housing.

Claude Caron made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 10:40 o’clock a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
